As someone who grew up obsessed with Scooby Doo and gay, who’s also loves the horror and thriller genre this book was everything. This healed a my inner child so much but also keeping my adult self on edge. All I can say is I can’t wait for the next one, and hoping for more after that. It was so worth picking up when the cover caught my eyes on the shelf on the 26th of September. But I’m really excited to see the characters developed and what they decide to call their mystery gang.

Wow wow wow! I absolutely loved this! I had very high hopes for this book as one of my most anticipated releases of the year and it absolutely delivered. The characters were all relatable and the plot was so fast paced and thrilling! Bill Wood is an absolutely cracking author and I'm so excited to see what he does next!

Edited 13.10.24 - I was lucky enough to be able to read an early iteration of LSU earlier this year, and now that it's finally out properly, I'm re-reading it because how could I not? As of today, I'm about halfway through and I can already tell that it's just so much tighter as a book, but also that all the things I loved so much about the early version I read are totally intact. So! I'm leaving my super early (and also super hyper) review up, but also will be adding more (proper actual review type) thoughts when I've finished my re-read! Original review (March 2024) - Oh my gosh!! Excuse me!! This was everything I wanted it to be. The vibes? Immaculate. The friendship dynamics? Immaculate. The romance? Immaculate (I'm a sucker for friends to lovers always). Macey? Immaculate. I can't wait to be able to recommend this to everyone looking for an excellent, atmospheric, vibey as hell YA thriller.

Love love loved it! I've been waiting on this since I first heard about this book even before it had a publisher and ahhhh so glad to finally be able to read it! It really is Scooby Doo but more scary. Page 205 in particular had me so on edge... We follow a group of friends investigating the murder of two of their classmates which is being blamed on a 'ghoul'. The cast of characters are diverse, charming and just generally fantastic? Jonesy my absolute favourite! Sanera as a location works so well and you'll immediately be drawn in as it's so reminiscent of classic American towns in the slasher genre. The clues are all there from the start if you pay attention, and the pay off is brilliant. It's jam-packed with references, traps & villain monologues and if you enjoyed Scooby Doo, Scream, Pretty Little Liars you need to pick this up! Now to wait for a potential sequel?
