This outing for Resnick tied up some loose ends from the earlier novels, not least of which was Helen Siddons (thankfully she's gone now, the detestable woman!). Resnick's on-off relationship with Hannah is resolved and Lynn finds happiness despite her father's illness. Resnick himself seems ready to move on to bigger and better things, at last. The issues covered in this novel include the ever rising incidence of gun and drug related crimes. There are some interesting twists and turns which culminate in a satisfactory outcome for most of the players. Michael Preston's story is both thrilling and terribly sad, he is a man who has wronged his sister in the worst possible way but at the same time finds his own father's actions even more heinous, leading him to kill him in a fit of rage. The denouement of this particular issue is truly sad and yet nailbiting at the same time. All in all a good read.
