Up to Nesbo usual standards of excellence. Never disappointed with any Harry Hole books. Highly recommended.

Another great Harry Hole story. Will keep you interested from the first page to the last. everything that you've come to expect from Jo Nesbo lots of plot twists just a brilliant read

I have never read one of Jo Nesbo's books so for start this one was amazing. I will be reading more of his books from now on. Excellent story, plot and thinking. Loved it.

When we last saw troubled detective Harry Hole his life seemed finally to be on an even keel. This being Harry, though, meant that it was never set to last. At the start of Knife, we quickly learn that things have gone rapidly downhill for Harry. He has been thrown out by long-term love Rakel and now spends most of his time in a drink-induced stupor, neither knowing nor caring what he’s been up to. Until he wakes up covered in someone else’s blood and with no idea how it happened. Harry must now solve the most difficult and personal case of his life, whilst also facing an old enemy with terrifying plans of his own. Knife is a difficult novel to review without giving up spoilers, which I will not do here. A major thread of all of the books, though, is that despite all of the criminals he has faced, Harry’s greatest enemy will always be himself. That theme continues in this instalment, and the way Nesbo has him fight to pull himself together, despite his darker urges, to crack the case remains the most compelling element here. Harry Hole is by no means the only fictional detective to blur moral lines to crack a case, but with Harry there has always been the very real feeling that he might actually crack for good this time. And Nesbo has form for taking his characters in unexpected directions, so nothing can be taken for granted... For newcomers to the series, it’s fair to say that Knife is probably not the best one to start with. Whilst it does work as a standalone, there’s a lot of history from previous instalments that lends extra power to the emotions here. But if you’re already a fan, prepare for a game changer. This series is taking a bold new turn and I for one can’t wait to find out where we go from here.
