Wow!!! I'm always sceptical when "celebrities" change tack and try their hand at writing like it's something that everyone can do. It usually results in a pile of over hyped tosh!!! Thank goodness this is not one of those times!! This book is just the right balance of thriller and humour with a smidge of gore mixed in. It starts with 7 killings of London journalists on 22nd May and unfolds from there. The central character, Famie, is a middle aged journalist who is contacted by one of the protagonists of the killings. From there the book progresses at a fast pace with wonderful witty writing. The only reason it's not 5* is I'm so incredibly hard to please lol!!!

As fast paced thriller focusing on two terror attacks in the UK. Difficult to review without spoilers but I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this. The lead characters are well written and I especially enjoyed Hari's side of the story.

Knife Edge is a dark well researched thriller that starts explosively with seven separate murders within an hour in London one day in May .The dead are all investigative journalists all working for IPS ,Fame Madden is also a journalist in the same office and she is determined to find out who killed her friends and why .I must admit when I realised they were terrorists I lost interest slightly as it is not a subject that interests me .The book however is well written although I found it slow in the middle the ending had me guessing .Many thanks to the Publisher the Author and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest review .

This is quite a clever book. Seven violent murders take place in London at the same time one morning and all before seven o’clock. All of the victims are investigative journalists and this leaves their colleagues worried. Famie Madden works as a journalist in the same company and she begins to investigate the killings which lead her to believe there may be more murders so her and others who work with her may still be in danger. The beginning of the novel blew me away but I have to confess that the middle section slowed and left me skip reading some chapters, which is not like me. The final chapters gathered pace again and over all this was a good read. It was so believable in parts and did leave me wondering about the presentation of some news stories. A superior and genuinely (knife) edge of your seat contemporary thriller. With themes that resonate and a plot which could easily be playing out in the world that we find ourselves, Simon Mayo has written a book that will keep you up late into the night. The tension remains taut and the narrative is superbly paced with twists and turns which maximise interest. Knife Edge is extremely well conceived and written but the real strength is in the characters and how they each add to the plot. Thoroughly recommended.
