I was sent a copy of Knife Edge by Simon Mayo to read and review by NetGalley. I have to say I can’t praise this novel highly enough! From the very first page I was completely hooked! It’s fast paced, exciting and engrossing - exactly everything that a good thriller should be! It has well fleshed out characters and a cracking plot and I will certainly be reading his previous and any future novels. What a find!!!
“Modern day thriller, keeping you on a 'knife edge'!”

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a page-turner thriller. Set in present day England involving journalists, terrorists and the police. Saying too much runs the risk of spoilers, but the plot is believable, the characters realistic, and the climax - in Coventry Cathedral - definitely keeps ones attention.

Thanks to Random House and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Wow. 'Knife Edge' is one of the most gripping, high-octane thrillers you will read this year. Although a usual departure from my favoured psychological thrillers, I loved every page of Simon Mayo's astonishing novel. It is a thrill-a-minute, edge-of-your seat ride from the first page. This is more than a crash-bang-wallop story, however, with Mayo's impeccable research into contemporary social issues giving the novel a cerebral edge missing from most stories of this type. Seven people killed in 27 minutes, all journalists from the same news agency. What's not to get excited about? This twisty thriller has all the answers, but it does not unfold in a predictable way. Mayo makes you think, as well as imbuing the reader with an adrenaline rush, which makes 'Knife Edge' such a page-turner. This is a highly resonant novel that taps into the zeitgeist of violence in contemporary Britain, with its spiralling impact on 21st century social issues, including domestic terrorism. Chilling and topical. One of the best social realist thrillers I have ever read.

This book grabs you on page one and doesn't let you go, I had to keep unclenching my teeth and I couldn't put it down. 7 people are murdered one morning, Famie and her team would report this as news but this time they are the news! All 7 work with her at the IPS, Famie and her friends fight against time to find out who is behind the killings and stop the next attack with the help of Hari who has infiltrated the gang. A definite can't put it down book
“A dark thriller that you won't want to put down”

Journalists are meant to report the news, not to be part of it. They aren’t usually the story but after seven murders in one shocking calculated attack, Famie Madden is about to discover that she is front & centre in this tragic event. Her colleagues seem to be the focus of a terror campaign but Famie must unravel the inconsistencies to find the truth while avoiding being the next target. This is a masterful thriller with brutal events & attitudes that are expertly twisted around a mystery. I loved the simmering tensions throughout the novel and the chapters from Hari’s point of view were gut-wrenching. The changing voices of the story added extra depth to the frantic pace while teasing the reader with the direction of the story. It was expertly done. Something darker from the ‘nicest man in radio’ that doesn’t just pique your interest, it grabs you by the collar and drags you into the drama and keeps you on the edge of your seat til the very end. I also adored the small reference to The Princess Bride as well. That made me smile so much. I received a copy from the publishers via NetGalley in exchange for a review.
