A brilliant book. A real account on Mr Stevenson's fight to defend those who weren't able to do so themselves. Tiresomely working for an equal America.

Bryan Stevenson is an extraordinary lawyer who has spent years fighting injustice. He set up the Equal Justice Initiative, a non profit organisation, to fight for those wrongly convicted and unfairly sentenced. He works tirelessly with his team to help as many people as he can. The cases, the in-depth racism, and the barriers he fought are shocking. I wasn’t aware of how despicable the situation is in America’s prisons. Or how the law can, and is corrupted, and used against the black, mentally ill, disabled and poor communities. This book is a must read.

It will shock you, revolt you, disgust you, sadden you, absolutely blow your mind in ways you can barely start to understand. It will also install within you a sense of hope, humility and will to be kind to others. I'm not even from America, but the problems that plague them are far beyond what it means to be American, and much more about humanity, justice and mercy for those most vulnerable around us. I highly recommend you to pick this book up. It will show you how our quickness to judge can turn someone's life into hell on earth. This is such a poor review compared to what this book brought into my life. I feel different after it. I'm considering things and overthinking issues I never gave a second thought before. I am questioning the things we call fair, the things we say are acceptable, the things we usually rarely question. Bryan Stevenson is a token of hope and courage. He went against the tide again and again and did so much good in a sea of hurt and despair. He's a hero. To think there's such an altruist soul out there, so full of compassion and bravery to fight for what's right, is amazing. Thank you for everything Bryan. Not only for your work but for taking the time to share it with the world. I hope I can be better and do better for the ones that might need a hand around me.

One of the most inspiring people of our age has to be Bryan Stevenson. He is a lawyer who works on death row in the United States, largely working for those who have been wrongly convicted, and a large portion of those wrongly convicted was due to racial profiling. His book, Just Mercy, discusses different people and cases he has represented and is profoundly moving and eye-opening. He reveals that “the opposite of poverty is not wealth, it is justice.” In it, I learned that 1 in 9 people on death row shouldn’t actually be there - an alarming rate of error. I learned that this is something that still happens today. It’s not a problem in decades past, it’s ongoing. This book also just gives a crucial insight into other people’s humanity. Bryan Stevenson states: “the true measure of our character is how we treat the poor, the disfavored, the accused, the incarcerated, and the condemned.”

A impactful, must-read memoir that follows the life and cases of Bryan Stevenson, the founder of Equal Justice Initiative a non-profit that supports those wrongfully convicted. Throughout the novel and through all the cases Stevenson shows you, one case remains prominent throughout the entire novel. Each case was astounding and you truly feel the emotion in each word.
