“TV series please!!”
(Paperback)
I had so much fun reading this. Devoured this in a few hours. I loved the concept, some really great characters and the plot was great. For such a short book this had so much to it. The story being told from the protagonist's diary entries made for a really endearing simplicity to the language and the retelling of the events.
While it is a really cool book with a great plot, it also discusses the issues of prejudice extremely well. The undertone of exclusion based on harmful stereotypes, in a world where half the population has transformed into creatures from legend and mythology, is extremely clever. Would a relationship between a dryad and a lumberjack work?! Who knows. But these scenarios highlight some very relevant and serious issues whilst still keeping the book light hearted and fun. Very clever writing, skilfully handled.
I just felt really happy reading this. I think this would make a great TV series, maybe in animé format!
