This book is quite possibly the best book I have ever read! I was gripped from the very start until the very end, and there were plot twists that I just didn't see coming! I didn't realise that it could be read as a standalone book or as the sequel to Both of You. I'm absolutely gutted I didn't read Both of You first but I am going to go back and read it now! If you need a good book to really keep you guessing then this is the book! I will be recommending it far and wide!

Another very enjoyable thriller from Ms Parks. Mistress of the page turner, she hooked me in very quickly and I was keen to know what happened to all the very human, flawed characters. I read and enjoyed it, as a standalone book and was surprised to find it was actually a sequel to "both of you" which I read a couple of years ago and, I have to admit, was my least favourite of her books so had obviously forgotten the main plot twists! I’ve recently started reading books by Adele Parks and somehow must have missed the prequel to this book, “Both of You” This picks up the story of a woman who went missing in the previous novel, Leigh/Kylie and looks in to what has happened to her. All credit to the author, it was so well written that I didn’t actually realise it was a sequel until I read the afterwords and this was mentioned. It was a great read and divided its time between the investigation into Leigh’s disappearance and a character called Stacie who is recovering from a serious illness. Living alone in an isolated cottage with her elderly father she struggles to remember anything about her life before she became sick. The atmosphere of the early days of the Covid pandemic also added to the feeling of unease and menace engendered by the novel. There is a lot of time devoted to Leigh’s sons Oli and Seb and when they start to search for their mother the story gets really interesting. I certainly don’t think it mattered that I hadn’t read the previous book as I had no preconceptions about any of the characters and took them all at face value in the same way as DC Clements. I didn’t know who the guilty party really was and this added an element of surprise to the denouement. I don’t want to reveal too much about the plot but suffice it to say that this was an excellent psychological thriller This is definitely recommended to both readers of the earlier prequel who want to know more and those like me who have come at it fresh! WOW! What an amazing thrilling read which grabbed me from page one right through to the last. A superb storyline with many twists and turns which had me guessing throughout. Adele Parks never disappoints and this one is just AMAZING. A must read

This was a very absorbing story. Lots of threads running through which all end up united in the end.Some really well described characters and a well thought out conclusion.
