A beautifully illustrated, wordless book that captured my 3-yr-old granddaughter's imagination from the very first page. When we had finished it was a case of 'again!' which is praise indeed. Each picture has so much detail and opportunity for language development and imagination, as well as the 'what do you think might happen next?' After a few 'story tellings' from me, she began to retell the story using her own words and voices for the characters. She even made up names for the girl and the bird and enjoys imaginative role play being the little girl, especially taking her grandparents on her very own magic flying carpet. I cannot begin to describe how much of a treasure this book is. Every home should own a copy.
