Reviews: Jaws 2 (1)
“Decent”
(Hardback)
An interesting if flawed making of book. I like the jaws 2 movie, but for me the original film is a hard act to follow. The acting and effects are decent and the story is okay. It's a watchable movie and I do enjoy it when I watch it but I prefer the original. This book is a decent making of. Made up primarily of interviews it can be a bit repetitive and some of the interviewees are perhaps not essential. But there is enough here to interest fans and I learned a few things that will help me appreciate certain scenes more. For instance, I didn't know that one characters hysterical screams are in reaction to a death scene that was cut making her reactions to what we see in the finished movie a bit overboard. The book is packed with black and white photographs of varied quality but that's fine. Colour photographs would have increased the cost exorbitantly. There's more material focusing on interviews than the making of itself but if you are interested in the movie then this is good. I'd love a reprint of the original novel as it follows the original unmade version according to this. Shame it will never happen. Overall a decent book.
