Reviews: Jackson Alone (2)
“A Sharp, Unflinching Look at Identity in Japan”
(Hardback)
Jackson Alone by Jose Ando is a novel that examines identity, race, and queerness in contemporary Japan through a sharp, satirical approach. Ando’s writing combines dark humor with emotional intensity while addressing discrimination, belonging, and the pressures placed on marginalized individuals.
The book’s strengths include its strong narrative voice, its unflinching look at difficult social issues, and its blend of satire with psychological tension. These elements create a story that is both challenging and thought-provoking without relying on conventional storytelling comfort.
“Packs a punch”
(Hardback)
Wow this book may be short but it packs a punch!
The story is shocking, connected and modern!
I really enjoyed the writing style and how it flowed, it has a proper gossipy edge between who is who and who knows who and who actually is it? So hard to review with no spoilers! But Jackson Alone is an exciting book!
