Reviews: Is (5)
“A great read!”
(Paperback)
by RogerG
It's hard to regard this as a children's book, because it deals so much with the extraordinary feats of Brunel. But it is. It's the very fact that it embraces Brunel's achievements via the supposed re-incarnation of the great man via a small school girl that makes it so facinating and interesting. I think it's a great piece of writing that everyone interested in a cracking good story should read, regardlless of age. Thoroughly recommended.

Original story line. Relation between two main characters is handled delicately. Nice portraits of 'unredeemed' teachers! Enjoyable and touching.

I liked the way there is mystery and also parts that make you laugh all put together. Is was a wonderful read and it was great how I felt the characters all coming to life around me. I loved the part when Robert set off to try and find Is. The ending was amazing. Hannah Keen, age 8

I love IS - it's about a girl who thinks she is was a famous Victoran enginer in another life and so she knows more about science and things than her teachers do. Its really fun and a good mystery too.
