An inspirational book for all modern day outsiders who have up until now felt desolate with their thoughts in this sometimes crazy world. The author's work opens the eye to follow a path of reconciliation and to provide hope for an upbeat future for all thinkers.

I am not sure if I am qualified to write this review as I last read about the outsider and existentialism when I was in my twenties. A friend recommended this book to me as she thought I would relate to it. The thing that struck me about this book is how it explains the outsider in relation to the modern world. It is well written and makes the subject easy to understand and relevant to life today. It might be just me, but I really felt I identified with the outsider's characterisation and could relate to the authors conclusions. On the one hand he shows how absurd modern life has become, while being optimistic about outsiders' prospects of engaging with life to discover some meaning. The book is a breath of fresh air through its originality and scope which will resonate with anyone who has ever though seriously about their life.

A polemic on the shallowness of modern life and a journey to find meaning in a world that seems intent upon pursuing the banal and which rewards mediocrity. A deeply personal book that seeks to update the existential canon, Vincent writes with intelligence and humour and tries to show that there is a little of the outsider in all of us, and thankfully so.
