Reviews: Innocent (2)
“Top notch legal thriller”
(Hardback)
Innocent is the follow up to Turow's massively successful Presumed Innocent, which was made into a film starring Harrison Ford. It's a slightly unusual follow up though in that it takes place (and has been written) some 20 years after the original. The central character is Rusty Sabich - falsely accused of murder in the original - and now implicated in his wife's unexpected death.
Told from several different angles and cleverly using chronology this is masterfully told and constantly intruiging. The cast of characters are painted in 3D and you end up caring about all of them. And, as with his earlier work, the courtroom scenes are intelligent and exciting.
I haven't read any of his stuff since Presumed Innocent, but this has persuaded me to take another look. A top class legal thriller.
“okish”
(Paperback)
I only read up to 60 odd pages. I could not get into this book as a woman reader. I personally think this book is a man's type of book to read.
