Battle excitement, romance, politics, this book had it all. It really explored its characters in depth. I really enjoyed the increased use of the elves in this book. Contains a twist that I didn't expect. I love the details in the battles. It really makes your imagination work and flourish, which makes the book even more lively and engaging. I admit, I was a bit disappointed in how the series ended but that is just a matter of preference. However, I believe this ending can leave room for more in the future, which I hope will happen.
“Epic Ending to an Amazing Fantasy!”

I loved this book though it was with a sad heart that I said goodbye to a much loved series. I first started reading the Inheritance Cycle when it was originally going to be a trilogy and it was well over five years ago I first picked up Eragon while looking for something new to read. Like the other books in the series, this is not a light read and at 860 pages this is the longest in the series by far and there is a lot of description to read through in-between the events. I personally think it could have been cut down a little and it wouldn't have suffered, but this is just Paolini's style (a bit like JRR Tolkein's) and it doesn't detract from the reading enjoyment. All the loose ends are pretty much tied up in this and although I personally found the ending bitter sweet, I have to admit it was an incredible ending. All the favourite characters are back and in my opinion Eragon and Saphira are even better than ever in this instalment, especially considering what they've been through. There are twists and turns throughout the novel and I was very impressed with the plot and the way it all came together in the end. Was Galbatorix defeated? I won't spoil that for you, but what I will say is to expect the unexpected. This is a heart-wrenching adventure with imaginative scope so wide I'm still wondering how Mr Paolini thought of it all. This is easily one of the most epic books of 2011.

Although I haven't finished reading this yet, I am thoroughly enjoying it. Quite gripping and I am eager to know how it ends!
“Have been looking forward to this”

.. and wasn't disapointed. I first started reading this series when I thought my son might like Eragon and was soon gripped (although decided would probably scare him at the age he was then). I have read other fantasy fiction since but have not been as enthralled. What I like about these books is that you don't have to be constantly thinking about who people are or where they've come from or any kind of complicated plot. The characters and world are all close enough to our own world to not cause confusion, and yet of course they have abilities and powers which make it all so much more interesting. Basically great story telling and great characters - male and female, human, dragon, elf, dwarf and more. Would heartily recomment to anyone who likes a good read.
