“Complex, sinister, and poignant - an exciting debut!”
(Hardback)
Page-turner until the last second - this artsy debut thriller is thoroughly enjoyable and a real pleasure to behold!
Set between an English high-court and Rome’s youthful art scene, it manages to retain the very best of its predecessors whilst still boasting a sense of freshness; handling the thoroughly-relevant, and complexly unregulated nature of therapy and counselling services, at their most insidious extreme…
“Sets the bar for thrillers”

A great debut novel based on an artist who becomes embroiled in the lives of a wealthy family. This has two narratives: one now whilst there is a court case and one going through the backstory. It’s a very good book and the twists are totally unexpected. The story had me so gripped I read it in two sittings. Looking forward to her next book as this was a very compelling read.

Not your typical psychological thriller but parts of it was an uncomfortable read, in an intriguing and can't look away type of way due to the topics it explores - substance abuse, estranged from family, a need for acceptance and questioning one's self worth...
The story centres around manipulation, memory, and how easily people can be influenced into believing a version of events that may not even be true. The characters and their actions, at times, were so unlikeable and the psychological side of it was interesting, especially the way it explored manipulating memories to distort perception.
The courtroom drama was definitely the strongest part for me and would have liked to see more courtroom back and forth as some of the flashbacks dragged on a bit. It started really strong. The pacing lagged a little a little during flashbacks and the ending didnt completely land for me.
Overall, a compelling but uneven read with strong themes.
