“What a fun read!”

As a book girl we all wish we could be the female lead in some of the romance books we read. Well imagine getting your wish come true, only to find out you've entered a thriller not a romance

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. I was hooked from the very first page and genuinely did not see this concept coming Roxie wishes herself into her favourite author’s next novel, expecting a sweet romance, and instead lands in a crime thriller where someone is actively trying to kill her. The premise alone is brilliant and Kate Eberle absolutely delivers on it. The stressful, high-pace sections had me reading faster without even realising it that kind of momentum is hard to pull off and it works really well here. Grant as Roxie’s reluctant crime novel expert is a great addition and their dynamic carries the story beautifully. A clever, funny, genuinely gripping read that blends romance and thriller in a way I haven’t quite seen before. A strong four stars.

“Fun Read”

This was such a fun book to read. I mean, can you imagine wishing you would be in your favorite writer's next book and having it come true? I'd really need to think about what author that is to make sure I wasn't in peril the whole time. This book has action, comedy, romance, mystery and a bit of magical realism just to keep things interesting. This was unique and well written and I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. The middle part did lag a little bit for me but not enough to stop me from continuing. I definitely wanted to see how this storyline wrapped up and I really enjoyed the ending. Thank you NetGalley and Viking Penguin | Penguin Books for access to the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Perfekter Mix”

“A rom-com with a deadly twist!”

What a ride! This was such an incredible read and I throughly enjoyed myself from start to finish. The story especially picked up during the last 20% with insane plot twists that completely caught me off guard. I found myself racing through the pages and not wanting the story to end! Going into this, I genuinely had no idea what to expect, but I can confidently say that I wasn’t disappointed. If Books Could Kill is a brilliant blend of rom-com, action-packed thriller and magical realism that manages to balance all three perfectly. One of my favourite aspects was the meta commentary on classic romance and crime thriller tropes. It felt like a fun nod to the lovers of both genres. I mean… only one bed, forced proximity and a little bit of spice? I don’t know about you, but that sounds very familiar to me ;) The humour was absolutely spot on. There were so moments that had me laughing out loud, especially Roxie’s inner monologues! She was such a fun and relatable protagonist to follow. I also loved the dynamic between her and Grant - I was literally rooting for them from the moment they first met. Their chemistry, combined with the mystery, suspense and humour made for such an entertaining and unique reading experience. Overall, this was a fantastic debut novel. I can easily picture this being adapted into a movie and if that ever happens, I’ll be first in line to watch it! I highly recommend picking this one up if you’re looking for something witty, funny, action-packed and full of surprises - you’re in for a great time! Thank you to Siren Book Club UK/Penguin Michael Joseph for sending me a proof copy!
