Reviews: I Made a Mistake (85)
“I made a mistake by Jane Corry”
(Paperback)
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the arc, which I have enjoyed reading.
I Made A Mistake by Jane Corry is a very clever and well thought out drama. When a man dies, who Poppy has had a one night stand with and who also happens to be her first serious boyfriend at 18, It appears that her marriage, her children and her business are now all at risk. When her mother in law is charged with Matthew’s murder, life seems even more complicated.
An interesting and fascinating look at two women’s marriages and how both woman work hard to keep their marriages strong against all odds.
Highly recommended.
“Loved it”
(Paperback)
Absolutely brilliant, loved it, I thought nothing could be as good as ‘I Looked Away’ but how wrong could I be. I loved the two stories that came together especially Betty’s story of her earlier life although all the characters were very likeable apart from Matthew. I found it very addictive and hard to put down the ending was fabulous and never would have guessed it I couldn’t recommend this book enough it’s definitely a must read.

If you are enjoy a story to lose yourself in then this could be just what you are looking for? For in I Made a Mistake you get two stories for the price of one!
In the present time Poppy Page is standing up in court explaining what has been happening, and what a tale it is. In a story from the past her mother-in-law, Betty, explains in a series of letters how her life with her husband Jock unfolded and what lay behind their close relationship. Honestly both stories are gripping - two women, both of whom have made mistakes and I don't mean putting a red top in the white wash type of mistakes.
This book works so well because it has been meticulously written to keep the reader hooked as various facts are revealed, and that both women 'own' their mistakes, and so the hurt they cause is seen through a sympathetic prism.
This was a fabulous read, I was hooked and by the end I had to neglect all urgent matters to make sure these beloved characters made it through.
