“An informative and well researched enjoyable read.”

Would thoroughly recommend this book. It covers a serious topic and personally informed my knowledge. It also enjoyable that for me was difficult to put down. The author is well read and I would argue uses his knowledge to give depth to this novel. I greatly appreciated the references at the back enabling the reader to explore the theory further.
“Brilliant sweep of a novel, this should be being read, reviewed and rewarded everywhere.”

Brilliant, scintillating read. Don't hesitate to read this timely delivery of a kind of biography of our age.

I could not get enough of this sharp, witty, compulsive debut. The life of a family leaving everything they know is described so acutely , you could actually be hiding in their suitcase. Incredibly funny in places, poignant in others, this book take you to several countries, and you learn so much about a culture , which up till now, very little has been written about. This will appeal to fans of Kamila Shamsie or Elif Shafak. I am very grateful to Vintage for sending me a proof copy.

This superbly written story of a family torn apart is well worth reading. Not many of us have any idea of what life is like when you have no place to call home. In this story, Agri Ismail really describes it in detail. A family of five leave Kurdistan for England, settle in London, and the story then deals with the family’s different lifestyles. I cared about all three children and the way their lives turned out, was fascinated by the different routes they took, and the lives they led, and how hard they tried to fit in.
