Reviews: Human Rites (56)
“Simply awesome!”

The pulse-pounding, chaotic finale of an amazing book series that I couldn't put down. Lucifer's plans come into motion, and it's up to the witches of Her Majesty's Royal Coven to stop him, and prevent the world from falling into devastation. Human Rites is stuffed with adventure, action, plot twists that completely throw you for a loop and characters that will live in your head forever, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.

I'm so sad the trilogy is over, but all great things must come to an end. Her Majesty's Royal Coven came out a few months before I started as a Bookseller, and now this is the first series I've completed since. I love these books! Juno Dawson has such a way with words that no other author can quite capture. Contemporary, witty, hilarious and heart-breaking all in one sentence! Human Rites is a wild ride, the third act in particular (this is not a rushed ending, don't you worry)! Even more plot twists to think about and elements of the story very reminiscent of Doctor Who! eee! I'm not one to actively cry when I'm reading a book, but this one got me (I'm talking about you chapter 27)! I love these books! I'll scream it from my bookshop window if I have to, which I will! Thank you ladies for an amazing journey! Thank you for the publishers for sending me an early copy :)
“The High Priestess never misses!”

Incredible way to end the trilogy! A lot to get your head around but totally satisfying when you do! Excellent cast of characters, the story was nicely executed and reached a marvelous conclusion! I shall cherish this series all my life! Three proofs complete the coven! Juno Dawson will always be my High Priestess! Bravo for crafting a perfect trilogy! Also, great to have fantasy characters in their 30’s and 40’s rather than the over used trope of the protagonist and their friends being barely 18! FULL REVIEW: There’ll be the devil to pay, for the Coven is reunited but broken… Niamh cannot quite believe that she is back from the dead, dredged up from the very soil and loam wanting to reclaim her…but as she soon learns Niamh hasn’t come back alone. Elle mourns a son that never truly was hers, and it cuts her deeper than expected. Ciara may actually thrive inside a prison crafted especially for witches. And Leonie? Well she is reeling from a very unexpected, and beyond shocking surprise. Four different souls, four different witches with one thing they all share in common: they were all unwittingly chosen by the dangerously charming and equally cruel Lucifer, the very same being described as the demon king of desire, all chosen to fulfil a dark prophecy whether they realise it or not. Lucifer has a deadly and tantalising offer for Theo: help him and her coven - those she now deems as family - will be spared as the rest of humanity disintegrates in a reality that would put hell to shame. What choice does she have? Can she save those she loves, or save the world? Surely she cannot do both. The choice is hers. And whatever the outcome, the world as they know it shall never be the same again… These witches must call upon every ounce of strength they have should they wish to put a stop to Lucifer and his diabolical plans. Easy, right? Right?! The thrilling conclusion to the epic HMRC trilogy is Juno’s finest yet and I will miss these kick-ass witches!
“The Witches (with a B) are back!”

The Hebden Bridge Witch band are back together for their last show, and of course we are in totally safe (and beautifully manicured) hands with Juno Dawson. There is plenty of fast-flowing, visual tension as the coven join together to try to prevent Satanis rising and the end of humanity. I just love this inclusive world with its strong empowered women, all of whom have a Buffy-like quip for every tense encounter, and very often a choice Anglo Saxon insult! The sassy, charismatic Lucifer provides a formidable enemy, and the end section was so relentless that I almost felt as if I had been fighting alongside the gang. Ciara remains my favourite character, and she is surely the ultimate badass witch, despite strong competition. If you liked the first two books, this is an automatic must-have (yes, I have now preordered myself a signed copy to go alongside my others), and if you haven’t yet read them, and love a good witchy story that will rock your world, you are in for the biggest treat. Many many thanks to the publishers, Harper Voyager for an advanced proof copy.
“What a book!”

Human Rites by Juno Dawson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Reading this book has been bittersweet, I am sad to see it end but I have loved every minute of it! This was the perfect conclusion to the series. Human Rites pulls you straight in from where you left off in The Shadow Cabinet and you get engrossed straightaway. I enjoyed all the different POVs and it is interesting to see everyone’s opinions and perspectives. I have loved every character within the series and struggle to find my favourite one. Theo is just such a sweetheart who you just want all the goodness in the world for. I won’t say much more as I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Overall this is a spectacular read and series! I would recommend it to anyone who loves witches, found family, friends, love and a whole lot of kickass women!
