“Perfect ending”
(Hardback)
This is the perfect ending to an incredible story.
All characters journeys came to full circle.
“The HMRC return to Hebden Bridge”
(Hardback)
Ohhhhhhh my heart! I can't believe this series is concluded. I've enjoyed it so much through all the books to this fantastic conclusion.
Our beloved witches have been through so much, and yet there's so much left for them in this last book. The character arcs are really satisfying and I absolutely loved how everything came together.
Juno's writing draws you in, all the characters are incredibly relatable and real on their own different ways, and the world building is incredible and makes so much sense.
What am I going to do with out the Hebden Bridge girlies in my life?
“A resounding ending to the trilogy”
(Hardback)
In this resounding ending to the trilogy, the broken coven of Leonie, Elle and Ciara must get over all the obstacles to their working together to save the entire world from Satan, his three parts released from their long incarceration. Will the others be able to forgive Ciara for killing her sister Niamh? Can Leonie work comfortably with the government witches, without Niamh to lead the Royal Coven? Will Elle get over the terrible trick that Lucifer played on her and her family? And will Theo get over Niamh’s death, the first sign of kindness in her life?
Avoiding the major plot point at the beginning, all I can say is that this is exactly like Avengers Assemble, with teams of heroes and anti-heroes who don’t trust each other but have to go on side quests to get the secret artefacts to defeat Satan, all in the nick of time to use the ultimate if terminal magic to take on the Big Bad. And it’s great stuff. Not the best book of the three, that would be Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, but this is a very close second, breaking your heart by the time the right ending comes along. Very very good.
Four and a half stars
“Her Majesty’s Royal Coven comes to its grand, chaotic and thoroughly enjoyable conclusion.”
(Hardback)
4.5*
And so, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven has come to its grand, chaotic and thoroughly enjoyable conclusion.
It’s been a journey and this closing instalment to the trilogy gave me everything I hoped for, wanted, needed and more.
Character arcs come full circle and we get a multitude of bittersweet and moving endings for all involved.
I’ve grown to truly love this pop culture infused, adventurous, challenging and dramatic trilogy and I’m sad to say goodbye.
But having re-read books 1 and 2 in preparation for this closing chapter I can safely say that these are books that will stand up to re-reads and I look forward to coming back to them again in future.
“An incredible send-off to an unforgettable trilogy.”
(Hardback)
With Human Rites, Juno Dawson brings the HMRC trilogy to a roaring, unforgettable close, and what a journey it’s been. This finale is everything you could hope for: roisterous, heartfelt, and full of magic, mayhem, and meaning.
This time, the enemies aren’t just monstrous, they’re frighteningly real. Fear, hate, transphobia, and misogyny are made flesh, with Satanis and his grotesque troupe embodying the very worst humanity has to offer. Against them stand the daughters of Gaia (Elle, Ciara, Leonie, and Niamh) who must come together one last time to confront the ultimate darkness. And wow, does it deliver.
I knew I’d love this final volume. Dawson’s characters are magnetic; their world feels lived-in and painfully close to ours. Every twist, callback, and side story deepens your connection. Even with the high stakes, the humor and warmth never fade, i.e. Niamh recovering by binge-watching Friends (“the homophobic series”) had me both laughing and aching for her. And Leonie, still leading her coven while stubbornly refusing to fix her kitchen? Iconic. There were just enough bites from Niamh to Theo to remind us of where we started. Now I’m off to reread the whole series just to spend more time with these characters I’ve missed so much.
Witty, surprising, emotional; the final showdown is as thrilling as it is cathartic, and I turned the last page with that lingering ache in my chest that only the best stories leave behind.
An incredible send-off to an unforgettable trilogy.
