Firstly thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the advanced copy of this book in return for my honest opinion. This book covers loss,grief and mental health issues so it’s quite heavy to read . The book follows Eloise who goes to see a doctor on 9/11 in the World Trade Center and what follows after for her and her family. This book includes characters from My Sisters Keeper which I have not read so found that premise interesting too. The book was a bit slow at the start however picked up midway and by the end I felt quite emotional especially after reading the authors note

On September 11, 2001, when Molly Fitzgerald was only two months old, her mother went to an appointment at the World Trade Center and never came home. She was raised by her father and stepmother and couldn’t have been loved more. How will Molly’s life be changed? I loved this book – I’m sure it took a tremendous amount of research to get all the 9/11 facts straight, and Jodi Picoult did a wonderful job. The story is told in dual timelines – 2001 and the present by several different characters. It is a unique storyline, and one that will stay with me for a long time – it was great!

I have read many Jodi Picoult novels over the years, so I was delighted to receive an advance review copy of Hollow Bones from NetGalley. The novel explores themes of grief, friendship, motherhood, postpartum mental illness, family, moral ambiguity, politics, and public health. Despite these compelling themes, I found my attention wandering during the early chapters, and I struggled to connect with the narrative at times throughout.  As the story progressed, I became more invested, and there were several poignant moments that genuinely moved me, along with some unexpected twists and turns, but I did struggle with the pacing. I particularly appreciated Jodi Picoult's author's note at the end of the book, which provides valuable information about postpartum mental illness and the lasting impact of 9/11. It added important context to the novel and highlighted the depth of research behind the story.
