Hogbert is a cute little boar who becomes lost. Throughout his journey back to his family he finds new friends and has adventures whilst avoiding the 'big bad wolf'. The illustrations are simply stunning. It's a beautiful book with a beautiful story of bravery and courage.

Such a lovely book. I found myself smiling at the end and wanting to go straight back to the start to fully take in the artwork. The story follows a baby boar called Hogbert who gets split up from his family, whilst out searching for food in the woods. He gets scared that he will encounter the 'big, bad wolf', but decides to stick to a plan and follow the path and try and find his Mum. In doing so, he finds some friends along the way, who are also lost. It is a beautifully illustrated book about friendship and being brave.

There’s a reason Briony May Smith is one of my favourite current illustrators and this book exemplifies how talented she is! Hogbert is a charming story of a little boar who finds himself lost in the woods but finds friends along the way. It reads in the style of a Grimm fairytale with all the lovely whimsical eerie goodness but without a real baddy! The lesson here is that no matter how scary things may become you’ll always find courage through friends and following your heart.

This book is so stinking cute! Reading about little Hogbert snuffling his way through the forest, finding friends and learning to trust his nose made my heart ache in the best way! Briony May Smiths beautiful illustrations add to the whimsy of the story! This book is an absolutely delightful tale about overcoming fears and learning to trust in yourself!
