Tim Flannery's subjects range from evolution to economics, pre-history to chemistry, the Gaia hypothesis to greed, but ultimately he focuses on our environment and what we are doing to it. I find many contemporary polymaths to be rather pompous in tone, but the author writes lucidly and has done extensive research. An impressive book indeed.
