Hells Corner is the fifth and final instalment of The Camel Club series by David Baldacci and a brilliant series it has been. Oliver Stone still has a friend in the highest office in the land he is just not popular with the alphabet soup of federal agencies. The president has tasked Stone with an important mission even though he no long works for the country. Before he flies off for his short mission, he stands out on Lafayette Park the most heavily protected piece of real estate in the world. Even so Stone is very wary and makes a mental note of everyone else in the part. Across the road the president is hosting the British prime minister and shortly after the prime minister has left the White House a bomb goes off. With the investigation underway Stone receives his ‘badge’ back and is back on the payroll and he also has assistance from Mi6 the British Secret Intelligent Service. None of the agencies are keen to share information especially with Stone. So, with the aid of members of The Camel Club they run a parallel investigation. They find that there is plenty of evidence all of which leads nowhere, little does Stone realise that it will eventually take him back to where he started his intelligence career. This time he is up against an opponent that is not scared to kill those who are a threat. A brilliant way to end the series.
