“A Mother and son”
(Paperback)
by Ian
A story that focuses on Shakespeare's family with William Shakespeare rarely there and never mentioned by name. The story of a mother, a sister and a lost son. Very descriptive and atmospheric. deals with grief in a moving way.
“Beautifully evocative but sad.”
(Paperback)
by Nightingale
Really well-written and wonderful atmosphere. Clever handling of the writer himself, who is almost totally a shadow in this story. But unremittingly sad. Obviously a labour of love and it really worked. The Mother is wonderfully and compellingly drawn. Worth the misery.
“Marvellous Interpretation”
(Paperback)
by Derek Beech
There has been a minimal amount of historical information, about one of the Greatest Britons. I think that this book steps into the breech very well. It is written with passion and imagination in abundance. Quite poignant at times as well as surprising by turns. I enjoyed it immensely!
“An Ode To Love And Loss”
(Paperback)
by Rebecca at East Kilbride
"Hamnet" is a slow burning triumph. An ode to love and loss and following your dreams, a love letter to breaking the mold. O'Farrell's inspiration from the untimely death of Shakespeare's son has brought us a story that will be sewn into your heart and remain stitched there for all time. “Intriguing story”
(Paperback)
by Nia ST
I love Maggie as an author! Her writing style draws me in every time & her way with words is captivating. I didn’t really know much about Shakespeare (forgot everything from school days) although he’s a part of the story it’s more about love, relationships, family life & death. I love Agnes character! I love how Maggie only refers to William as ‘husband’ ‘father’. Brilliant story, can see why it’s won so many awards.
