Ben elton was clearly still raging in a world of Anti-Thatcher when he set out to write this novel. this is clear from the way the Money Spinning Oil Giants are made out as the big bad wolf in this novel. However, the underlying story is built and developed very well. At times the characters are really quite endearing. It's a thought provoking and funny first attempt at a novel.
