Reviews: Gone (6)
“Tense”
(Hardback)
Very fast read - great book!
“Gripping read.”
(Paperback)
I found this offering from Hayder to be truly gripping. It wasn't, however, as brilliant as 'Birdman' which is seriously scary stuff. 'Gone' has some good twists and comes together in a satisfying outcome.
I like the 'repeat character' style of crime novels as it brings a little more depth and realism to the characters themselves and to the plots. Lives intersecting and past or future events hinted at and revisited make it more interesting.
“A good read”
(Paperback)
I didn't find this book as good as some of the other Jack Cafferey novels but still a really good read. mo Hayder is a brilliant writer!
“A good read”
(Paperback)
I am a massive fan of Mo Hayder and the jack Cafferey novels. I didn't find this one as good as some of the others but still a really good read.
“Gone”
(Paperback)
This is a brilliantly tense page-turner with plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing (and second guessing) without being confusing or overly complicated. The changing perspective between the different characters involved adds an extra dimension to the story and Hayder uses this to drop little hints at the truth or some other secret that may or may not come out. Although this is part of a series, it stands alone very well and doesn't leave anything unexplained so the reader isn't left feeling that they've missed something. Overall a great read that you don't want to put down once you've started.
