The second in Simon Scarrow's Roman series for children is just as exciting as the first! Full of heart-stopping action and terrifying gore, this book had me sat on the edge of my seat the whole time, in anticipation of whether or not the main character, Marcus, would survive the fatal ordeals that he is out through. The story provides children and teens with a fast-paced, exhilarating read whilst giving them information about what it was like to be a Roman slave. I really enjoyed this book and, although at times the "blood and guts" element was slightly too detailed for me, I think I am just too squeamish and those who like reading about battles and fights will love these books just as much as I do! I can't wait to read the next one!!!
