My first foray into this author's work and I'm looking forward to discovering more. Vividly written with a creepy, atmospheric descriptive style that was completely absorbing. This was a fabulous take on whole concept of the ghost realm and I loved the way that she took traditional fantasy elements yet managed to create something fresh.

Another great read from Schwab, a short but captivating gothic tale that reads like Schwab's take on Coraline. More great writing; the story met but also subverted my expectations in some ways. A really strong mysterious atmosphere that sticks with you the whole time, I'd recommend Gallant to new and returning fans of V.E. Schwab.

V. E. Schwab did it again. Another magical book that I just couldn't stop reading. I really liked this book, all the characters were fantastic. And the plot was just a masterpiece. I just had one issue with this book, although it was supposed to be YA I felt that it was a little bit more middle grade. Other than that this was an amazing read. I just can't wait for more stories from V. E. Schwab.

I really liked this book! Every VE Schwab novel always feels very different to the next, but I really enjoyed the direction this story took and the style of writing. This was very spooky, with ghouls and a mysterious house; there were a lot of ominous moments and I was very taken into this world. Unfortunately I don’t think this was quite as strong as some of her other works, namely A Darker Shade of Magic; I just didn’t connect to the characters or care as much for what they were going through, which, given the short length of the book, is to be expected I suppose. I think if the book had been longer and we'd had more time to connect to the characters, I would have liked this more.

This is the second book I have read from V.E. Schwab and they haven't disappointed. This is a very good dark fantasy I loved the descriptions of the mansion and both sides of the door. It was very easy to get into and I loved how V.E. Schwab was able to make me connect to Olivia that you can not help but feel for her throughout the book!
