Reviews: Fossil Future (2)
“The future of energy is happening now”
(Hardback)
This book is probably the most concise, nuanced, well-written and well-researched case against abandoning the use of fossil fuels you’ll find. It’s full of excellent arguments backed not only by logic and philosophy, but most importantly by scientific and economic data that has been made easily understandable for an average reader. You’ll find here things that you won’t hear or see in mainstream media or documentaries; facts that are often conveniently omitted from the messages we hear every day.
Why they are hidden? Well, this question is something Mr Epstein attempts to answer using reason and logic, debunking myths and showing us how media likes to chase what sells best: fear. His work is focused on attempting to wake up our critical thinking, overcome our biases, and help us analyse the facts by presenting them in the context of what we want for our destiny: is it to gradually remove ourselves from the existence on this planet, or to enable humanity to flourish and prosper?
The book is well-written, well articulating nuanced points from an economic, scientific, as well as philosophical stance. Reading it feels easy and fast, as Mr Epstein doesn’t try to waste our time. There’s a method in the madness, as it made me broaden my perspective on my approach to life on this planet as a human being.
Now, who is this book for? It’s for those who like to know the pros and cons of a policy before deciding which one to back; for people on the fence about “climate catastrophe”, for those who have followed "green policies” and realised that renewable energy is not as cheap or reliable as it was promised. It’s also for those hardcore believers on both sides of the coin: deniers who think climate change is a hoax (Epstein shows us clearly that it’s not), and eco-warriors, who fear our extinction as a species.
This book will arm you with all the facts, the good ones and the bad ones, about all sorts of energy production types and its impact on our planet, so you can make your mind about it all yourself. Mr Epstein is just a tour guide here.
“A boring book, highly misleading author”
(Hardback)
This was probably one of the worst books I have read. The author is clearly working for a fossil fuel company and misleads from the outset.
They seem to be a climate change denier. Surprised waterstones is even selling this it is so misleading.
