“Excellent recipes and flavoursome dishes in this cookbook”

I really like this cookbook. One reason is that it really does save so much on washing up, being cooked in one pot. I can tell that each of the recipes have been tested and re-tested from reading the acknowledgements and the description of the recipes. I am looking forward to trying out the meatballs. I have cooked 3 dishes from here already, the Korean style salmon (which I substituted with trout), the piedmont peppers with rosemary, potatoes and mackerel and roast chicken with marmalade and mustard. Kids have enjoyed the dishes too. They have been flavoursome and the recipes have been straightforward to follow. The only thing that is missing that would be helpful is a total prep time + cook time indication at the top of each recipe, but careful reading of the method will help figure it out. I bought it for a friend and then bought it for myself. I would definitely recommend this one!

Foolproof One-Pot by Alan Rosenthal does exactly what it says on the cover. And what a cover! !t both looks good it actually feels good and can be wiped clean when you stir your One Pot concoctions a little too exuberantly. At the beginning of Foolproof there are a couple of pages covering the things we think we all know how to cook but often don't . Rice, Bulgar wheat and even the humble potato. From there unfolds a delightful mixture of meat, fish and vegetarian recipes few of which require exotic ingredients but all of which turn out absolutely delicious. My favourites? Spiced duck roast with red cabbage and grapes. It has a long oven time with a few interventions on the part of the cook so one to embark on when you around the house for some time - and who isn't at the moment? Ghanaian Chicken and peanut stew is easy and the end result so moreish with a silky tomato peanut sauce that just cries out for some good bread or mashed potatoes. The photo illustration that looked so inviting actually matched my finished product which is always a bonus as were the interesting vegetarian recipes which were just well described and tempting on the plate. The pudding section at the back of the book offers some unusual combinations of flavours and are also one pot. This is the section of the book where my one criticism lies. Not enough puddings Next time more please! After using this book myself I have given it to friends and each and every one of them were delighted with the new ideas ,great tastes and a reduction in the washing up
