Reviews: Fooling Houdini (2)
“'Fooling Houdini' is excellent!”
(Paperback)
by Magus
Having read the proof copy of this book, it is amusing, informative and thoroughly entertaining. The author writes in well thought out prose and captures the reader with the tales of his trials and tribulations. Character development surrounding the various acquaintances and friends is truly second to none and the technical detail is fascinating . I would highly recommend this book to anyone with even a passing interest in playing card magic tricks. The title of this book refers to an effect used to fool Houdini- who famously said that 'You can't fool me three times', needless to say that the use of 'The Ambitious card' was used to fool him seven times, thus causing Houdini and his wife to leave the presence of the man performing the trick. There is a wealth of information and trivia contained within this book and it is well worth the cover price. Read it.

I have always been interested in magic although never been a practioner. I read the other review of the book and thought that it would be interesting. I wasn't disappointed and particularly enjoyed the personal journey of the author learning to perfect his craft. I found the book absorbing and easy to read due to the author's easy style. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with even a passing interest in magic as it providesd a good insight into the level of expertise and practise required to achieve proficiency at the art.
