Reviews: Flu (6)
“Couldn't put it down!”
(Paperback)
by Dr John
I have read Simmons' previous novel, and really enjoyed it, but FLU is his best yet! I read it none stop and finished it in 2 sittings. Best read this year!
“Zombierific Its great!”
(Paperback)
by Andrew Stephen Ward
Wayne Simmons not only would nake Romero proud but jealous. This book captures the zombie apocalypse at its rawest core, and combines it with a pinch of local humour. If you are not from Northern Ireland dont worry its east to follow and very well written 10/10 for Simmons a must read.
“Contagiously Brilliant!”
(Paperback)
by creepydoll
This is a terrific book, gripping from the start. I guarantee that you won't be able to stop reading once you begin. It's set in Northern Ireland, which makes a nice change, the colloquialisms are easy enough to understand (urban dictionary is always a good fallback, though!). You will get very involved, and you will be harrassing Mr Simmons for a sequel. I guarantee it!
“atishoo atishoo all fall down - dead”
(Paperback)
by Elizabeth Starnes at Deansgate
This is Simmon's first book and is tad over written, heavy on the adjectives and florid descriptions. However, he really is an original talent, in fiction writing as well as horror. If you're a horror fan you'll find him a refreshing and unique and most of all very good writer, if you're not a horror fan please give him a try. The setting of Belfast is used well, characters are believable and the story rattles along at a cracking pace. His second book, 'Drop Dead Gorgeous' is even better, more assured and less showy but more satisfying. Simmons is going to be a writer to watch.
“Atchoo!”
(Paperback)
by Sherelle
I hadn't read any of Wayne Simmers work before, but I have read many Zombie books, and I have to say, it does pretty well! There are some very good moments, none of which I'll spoil, but it's a good page turner from the off. I like a book that grabs me from the first page and it definitly does that! The way the book splits and entwines the characters stories is well done and keeps you reading on. Over all a good book, only let down by how quickly it ends really. Give it a read if you like zombies, raw characters and a quick read.
