Reviews: Fletch Won (1)
“Good”
(Paperback)
Series review.
I enjoyed most of the books in this comedy crime series. Some were excellent mysteries, some were weak and my rating will indicate that. Fletch, an investigative journalist bursts into life in the first novel, simply titled fletch. This novel was turned into a hit movie starring Chevy chase as the eponymous hero. At their best these books are fast witted funny crime investigation stories with great characters. At their worst the plots are poor but the writing is always decent. This is a series I need to read again in chronological order. I say that because the books dot about a bit in terms of when they are set in fletch's life.
The correct reading order is...
Fletch Won
Fletch Too
Fletch and the Widow Bradley
Fletch
Carioca, Fletch
Confess, Fletch
Fletch's Fortune
Fletch's Moxie
Fletch and the Man Who
Son of Fletch
Fletch Reflected
I did read several of the books a few times but not all of them and some, carioca for instance I feel as if I should give a second chance to. Generally I really enjoyed the series. It's funny and well written with good plots. A few I didn't enjoy but I'd be happy to try them again and I now have brand new editions that have replaced my very worn copies so hopefully I'll get around to this series again one day.
