Reviews: Fix (1)
“This one would be good to read by the pool.”
(Paperback)
by Alison Drew
The title appealed to me more than anything when I was offered this book. I’m not adverse to a touch of erotica so figured it could be a pleasant read. What’s not to like … a powerful (or could be said controlling) man and the attractive girl in the office, this will provide a bit of tension/passion surely? Patrick has a history of getting exactly what he wants via the women available, failing that he will flash the cash. Set in the high flying banking world, this is told from Patrick and Alexandra’s view. She is infatuated, will he treat her as he usually treats his conquests or could she be slightly different all be it slightly naive, will she possess a certain charm strong enough to alter him .. set up classic romance. Yes, it is easy to read, has a certain degree of excitement and maybe an edginess because it is supposedly based on true facts but ultimately it could easily fall in to the ’50 Shades’ category. I didn’t feel as though I was reading anything particularly new. I like to read a book which will give me the ‘wow’ factor, regardless of genre and this one was a little luke warm in that respect. I believe there are more books in the pipeline so it will be interesting to see if they are any different. This one would be good to read by the pool. Thanks to the author and Clink Street Publishers for the ARC.
