Reviews: Five Survive (38)
“Holly's best novel yet!”

There is one word that summarises this book, and it is: wow! From early doors, this YA thriller will have you hooked. Our protagonist Red is a really unique and interesting character who I enjoyed learning more about as the book went on. The real selling point for this book though is the amount of plot twists and curve balls Jackson was able to throw into this story without it seeming forced. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire read, needing to know more and more. I really had no idea where this book would take me, but wow - what an ending! On another note, I never ever be going on an RV holiday! Thank you to the publisher for sending me an advanced proof copy!
“An intense thriller!”

Oh wow! Of course Five Survive is nothing like Good Girl's Guide, but it's obvious that Holly Jackson has taken everything she had learned and put it into a non-stop thrill ride. Five Survive will, quite literally, have you on the edge of your seat as you discover something new and frightening around every corner. I started this on my break, and almost missed going back because I just had to figure out what happened next! Once you're in this book, it will keep its grip on your until the very end.
“Holly Jackson has done it again. The suspense was enthralling.”

Eight hours. Six friends. One sniper . . . Eighteen year old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break. It’s a long drive but spirits are high. Until the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. There’s no mobile phone reception and nobody around to help. And as the wheels are shot out, one by one, the friends realise that this is no accident. There’s a sniper out there in the dark watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for. A game of cat-and-mouse plays out as the group desperately tries to get help and to work out which member of the group is the target. Buried secrets are forced to light in the cramped, claustrophobic setting of the RV, and tensions within the group will reach deadly levels. Not everyone will survive the night. Holly Jackson has quickly become a favourite author of mine. One of the immediately buy authors. It was strange stepping into this new world and expecting Pippa Fitz-Amobi to show up somehow. But honestly it didn't matter, this book was amazing. I won't lie I was concerned I wouldn't like it something about snipers not being my cup of tea. But it was awesome. Thrilling! Tense! And how Holly Jackson made you actually despise some of the characters and I won't lie I definitely wished a particular someone dead, so I was happy with the outcome. But the twist in this book was absolutely crazy but so so good. It kept you guessing. It was infuriating. And it was brilliant.
“Page-Turner”

Five Survive is a page-turner from start to finish. The writing is engaging, and the plot is full of unexpected twists. Holly Jackson has created a cast of characters that are both likable and flawed, and the tension between them is palpable. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery.

I LOVED this book, I was a big fan of The Good Girls Guide series so was really looking forward to this one and it really didn’t disappoint. I love the hour by hour chapters which really help to build the tension and the fact that the characters can’t leave the vehicle just keeps the whole thing going. If you want a fast paced YA thriller I think this one is pretty perfect.
