Reviews: Figure Drawing (1)
“Incredibly usueful guide to drawing people from scratch.”
(Hardback)
by Peter Chalker at Waterstones Bedford
I was looking for a book that would teach me how to draw people from scratch the way illustrators and comic artists do. There are a lot of books that teach you how to draw the human figure but they tend to take the fine art approach and assume you plan to draw from life. There are also a few 'How to draw comics' books but they tend to be quite simple and cartoony. This book was exactly what I was looking for. The instructions are detailed and practical and it takes you through the basics to quite advanced aspects of drawing without becoming intimidating. It's a bit on the pricy side but I'd say it's definitely worth owning this book, you'll keep returning to it for tips and advice no matter how good you get.
