“A literary novel that reads like a thriller”
(Paperback)
I absolutely love this book. The writing is brilliant without showing-off, the story flows beautifully and is constructed so cleverly that I read parts of it again, straight after I finished it.
The novel is set immediately before the financial crash and touches on big ideas like belief (or lack of), greed, honesty, selfishness, etc. with a wonderfully dry wit and sometimes laugh-out-loud scenes. Although the characters are mostly unpleasant, I couldn’t help caring for them as I witnessed with glee, and some concern, their comeuppance.
Despite its philosophical ideas, this book a real page-turner and very funny.
