I was sent an uncorrected advance proof of Exquisite Corpse by Marija Pericic to read and review by NetGalley. This is a well written novel set in Stockholm in 1930 - and apparently based on true events, which I didn’t know until I had finished the book! This fact made it even more extraordinary. The story is told through first person accounts of the four protagonists, which works really well. There are some very explicit episodes in various sections, which make everything even more real. I feel that the last quarter of the book is the weakest but it didn’t spoil my enjoyment overall. A quite engrossing book, not for the faint hearted.

This was a very weird book, and I'm not sure if being based on a true story makes it better or worse. I wasn't convinced of Dr Dance's love at the beginning so was quite surprised by the ensuing obsession. Also for me the story from Lina's point of view just added to the weirdness and not in a good way. Thank you to netgalley and ultimo press for an advance copy of this book
