After reading this book i went out straight away and bought Zenith. You feel sorry for Mara and in some way you actulllty feel resonsiblire for here situation. Mara struggles to get into the sky city. Her cyberwizz is the most important thing to her.6*'s and a must read!!!!

Exodus Review Exodus is a gripping book. It is a memorable book. I could not put it down. But sometimes describes too much and there is not much action. Mara’s island is drowning. Is there any hope for the people of Wing? She meets a mysterious fox in the weave. He tells her of a forgotten town in the sky. Will the get there? I would recommend this book to girls 11+! This is a book you must read! I rate it 4.5 stars!

Exodus is a book that is written so imaginatively, that it makes you think, although at times, I felt like there was too much description and not enough action. The solid ground beneath your feet might not be as solid... The book focuses on the future of the world and in particular a girl, who practically knows that her island will drown and that she has to do something to help herself, her family and her friends. She goes on an extraordinary adventure which affects the readers emotions on every page. A great example of Julie Bertagna's true talent with this heart warming story of how a girl can change everything.

Julie Bertagna has descriptively created vivid images in the reader’s mind about a world that could be our future. The story is slowly brought together by events that the main character, Mara, experiences. I believe that readers may feel a connection to Mara as Bertagna has portrayed different emotions through the use of powerful words, and from this we can feel the pain and fear of the characters as if it was our own. However, throughout the book we read how Mara has to change to become a person the world believes her to be. Mara is a character who is confident and brave, but doesn’t realize, as she believes herself to be selfish. This explains a lot about who a person thinks they are, and in Mara’s case, we read that she doesn’t believe in herself and that she’s not the person everyone wants her to be. Bertagna has also related the beginning of her book to that of Lewis Carrolls’ ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The similarities are that the books contain a new world for the reader, with different people and languages that are conveyed from this world. Then the character Gorbals is first introduced to us by acting like the white rabbit as he is late and is in a rush. Bertagna could have done this to capture the strangeness of this other world that Mara has entered and to portray to the readers how life has changed. Altogether a lovely story about finding who you are through love, loss, friendship, fear and confidence.

This book, is just great. The writer Julie, makes you feel responsible for the pain and terror Mara is going through, because it's our fault the ice caps melted! It really is such an interesting read, to find love in that kind of world must be a scary thing, and to be a 15 year old girl with the responsibility to look after so many people makes you want to climb in the book and help her shoulder it yourself! Can't wait to read Zenith and Aurora!
