Reviews: Excalibur (3)
“Excalibur”
(Paperback)
“Great storytelling”
(Paperback)
Could this be the best book in the trilogy? It would be hard to pick the best of the three, but certainly this book rounds the story off nicely.
I came to these books as a first time Bernard Cornwell reader with no expectations; I was hooked from the first page of The Winter King, right the way through until the last page of Excalibur. The characters are real, I felt their pain and loss, the storytelling is superb, and I was sad to reach the end. I won’t go into details about the story itself- you should read the books themselves to find that out. Highly recommended.
“Superb series”
(Paperback)
I love this series. Brilliant story and great writing combined with good characters. This is a take on the arthurian legends. It asks "what's the real history behind the legends". What follows is a very well thought out story that takes the legends and mixes it with history and fiction. David gemmell does the same in his excellent troy series. The Arthur books are still for me the best of cornwell's books. A brilliant trilogy.
