“A Good Read”

Escape is a standalone thriller by James Patterson and David Ellis and was originally published in 2022. This is a good thriller which engages the reader and makes it an enjoyable read, even if the ending is rather predictable. Chicago detective Bill Harney and his partner are on a chase, and they are following a suspect who has snatched five girls off the streets. They follow the van into the middle of nowhere and are searching a property. Harney almost catches the kidnapper until the house blows up, killing her partner. Harney is tasked with leading a team to bring down ‘King Jericho’ the leader of The Imperial Gangster Nation, Chicago’s most notorious street gang. Harney and the team think they have the key to Jericho, his money man Mason Tracey. They take both of them down and all they have to do is wait for the ‘kid’ to break. Logan Arcola, a teenage, asks to see Harney and reports that she thinks her father is going to kill her mother. When Harney visits the father, little does he know that Henry Arcola has already committed the murder. Somethings do not add up especially when he arrests Arcola on a murder charge. Can Harney and his team round all the circles of investigation in front of them and close all the cases? Will he be able to see what is right in front of him? A good read.
