Reviews: Enigma (4)
“Brilliant”
(Paperback)

This superb wartime crime thriller is set at Bletchley park, the site of the code breaking efforts during world war two. The historical setting mixed with a murder mystery works very well. The characters are very good and the writing is excellent. Great stuff.
“A thrilling read”

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of twists and turns and gave my mind a good workout. The plot follows those trying to break the enigma code during World War 2. The author gives enough of an in-depth review of the day to day lives of the code breakers to keep you interested. A good read.
“A grippingly tense read”
(Paperback)
by Ecowitch
This is a gripping read set in the grounds of Bletchley where the UK armed forces and their civilian counterparts worked around the clock during the Second World War to break the German communication codes. We follow Jericho, a young Cambridge scholar, as he battles not only the German codes but his own demons as War becomes ever more intense and the past comes back to haunt him. As ever, Harris combines real life events, people and places with his own creations to really bring his story to life.
“Interesting Read”
(Paperback)
by Patricia Forbes
I enjoyed this book as I learnt a lot about Bletchley Park’s activities but I didn’t enjoy it as much as much as Harris’s previous novel Fatherland which I thought was superb. Although Fatherland was very creative and imaginative, it had a certain believability about it that this one lacked. This plot was too contrived. Still an entertaining and easy read though with a lot of information about Bletchley.
