Reviews: End Game (1)
“A Magnificant Thriller”
(Paperback)
End Game by David Baldacci was the fifth and is the final instalment in the Will Robie series and was published in 2017. The way Baldacci ends this leaves open the option open if he ever wants to add another book to the series.
It is six months or so since the events in Mississippi and Robie has not heard from Reel since they both got back. Life for both these sharp shooters is kept very busy by the various missions their agency keeps giving them, Robie saving London from a terrorist attack while Reel has been out in Iraq.
When both get back stateside the new director of the CIA informs them that ‘Blue Man’ is missing, that he had gone to Grand, Colorado and has not been heard of since. The director assigns both Robie and Reel are tasked to find ‘Blue Man’ and keep him from the enemies of the US.
When they arrive at Grand, Colorado they found they had a whole lot of nothing. Two police officers, State Police at least two hours away and no obvious clues. Though they found many of alternative groups such as neo-Nazis and other white supremacist and religious groups. All of them hating the federal government.
Robie and Reel found that the wide-open spaces around Grand held many secrets and most of them not good, and even with their skillset they may not find out about all of them. Even with their skillset they may not be able to find the ‘Blue Man’ which is all the more worrying for the pair. Even when they do find clues, they tend to lead them up a blind ally and with people continuing to disappear they come under a great deal of pressure to crack the case. This time it seems like it will be a real fight to the death.
A magnificent thriller which grips you from beginning to end.
