I wanted something written with style to cheer me up but that was ultimately a bit frivolous, this was perfect. My suppressed laughter had me snorting in public, and I like to think I don't do that too often. I also become intensely irritated with Emma in parts, wished for a governess, pondered the life of someone having two sets of twins within a year of each other and was rooting for all the poor souls in this ensemble to find some happiness and stability considering their favourable circumstances. It's great fun and providing you don't take it too seriously you'll have a great time.

This novel is part of the Austen project, a project that allows bestselling authors to create modern adaptations of Austin’s novels. I love the idea of the project as it allows other people who never read Austen to get into her stories. This is well written and I love the style that it has been written in. It matches the style of the story and is very reminiscence of Austen. I like that the timeline of events in the book have been mixed up. The book touches nicely on some important issues. I enjoyed the way Emma’s realisation at the end fits in.

A lovely modern version of Jane Austin's Emma. Wonderful characters, full of humour, recommended. Perfect Sunday afternoon reading!
