“Sometimes, the things you don't do have just as much of an impact”
(Paperback)
by Linn
This is one of my absolute favourite books. I first read around the time it came out, and mainly ordered it because I was (and still am) a big fan of Mark Watson as a comedian. I had no idea what to expect from him as an author, but I was blown away. I recently re-read it, and it's even better than I remembered. This book is heartwarming, funny and tragic all at the same time. The narrative is expertly put together, with the story of each character weaving beautifully into the next. The way the consequences of one small act (or in this case an act that doesn't really happen) can cause a ripple effect that changes lives all over the city, is brilliantly managed. The characters are so well written, and easy to get invested in. You heart breaks for them, you fall in love with them, you want to whack them over the head with their new mobile (it'll make sense when you read it. Please, do read it). It's such a shame this book isn't more widely available these days. This book should always be available for people to discover and fall in love with.
