Reviews: Edible Seashore (1)
“I'm Very Pleased with this book.”
(Hardback)
Love this book it's great, just what I was looking for, I'm getting into all kinds of wild edibles, plants, mushrooms, berries, but I was looking for something dedicated to seaside and. Coastal foraging and found this book.
It's got a good list of plants, seaweeds, molluscs, crustaceans all of which can be found and gathered around the UK coast.
There are two pages dedicated to each wild edible, useful information on where's best to find it, what months are best rules and regulations that you may need to know on minimum sizes they must be before you can take them away etc,
What months to avoid certain molluscs, where about in the UK you are more likely to find them and tips on what to look for.
It also tells you how to prepare and cook the wild edible and also has a bonus recipe section at the end giving ways to cook some of them.
I've already been out and identified wild plants listed in this book, i'm looking forward to getting out soon to find some periwinkles and mussels, the book could be taken with you in a backpack or could even fit in a large raincoat pocket.
If you're looking for a book on seaside foraging then I recommend this, well written and presented, good photography, lots of information.
I'm Very Pleased with this book.
