If you thought Riftborne was good you will be absolutely blown away by its follow up. I immediately started searching the internet for any signs of the next (and final?) instalment to this beautiful, amazing, well-written and well-thought-out romantasy series. Expect politics, world-building, new characters and lots of slow burning romance.

No matter how much I enjoyed Riftborne and that ending...it does not compare to how much I LOVED Duskbound. I absolutely devoured this book, I couldn't put it down from the moment I started and it just got better and better. This is by far my favourite of the two and that ending, again I am shooketh. I don't know how long I have wait for the last book but please please don't let it be ages because I NEED to know how this is going to end. I am not going to say much about what happens because I think so much change and growth happens in this book, we meet new characters, who I am obsessed with and the reveals just keep revealing. I will say I met some of my favourite characters in this second book, Vexa, Lael, Raven and of course AETHER ♥️. 5 stars easily for me, highly recommend and bring on Book 3 now please lol.

This review may contain spoilers! I loved Riftborne but I really feel like Duskbound stepped UP in terms of plot, worldbuilding, romance, THE LOT!! I had a feeling Ashford wasn’t going to be endgame so when Aether showed up I just knew this series was going to be god tier and oh my goodness this man had me swooning. I absolutely love the character development Fia has had already and can’t wait to see how this progresses in the next book, alongside how her powers continue to grow and how she’s going to deal with the inevitable upcoming reunion with her friends from Sidhe. And that betrayal… I can’t say I’m surprised but I’m definitely intrigued to see how it plays out! I often find that book 2 in a series can feel like a bit of a filler book and a struggle to get through but this was absolutely not the case here. If you’re a fan of romantasy that is actually plot-heavy, brooding shadow daddies, high stakes, betrayal, winged animal companions, and found family (to name a few) then this is absolutely the series for you. Bring on book 3…

Duskbound is why I love fantasy. This is pure enjoyable escapism. While I liked the characters from book one, I love the characters in book two. I adore Aether’s brooding, Vexa’s humanity and Effie’s endearing petulance. Once again, the plot is fast paced but we are given so much more- more of the magic system, politics, betrayal and characterisation. Even better- more of this exciting world! Definitely a series to watch- it gave me the vibes of ACOTAR and Fourth Wing!

Amazing, incredible and literally every other synonym to exist. Somehow even better than the first! I feel like Fia really developed as a character in this book and I absolutely loved it. That, in combination with all of the new characters (especially Aether) made me adore this! The plot was so incredible, I loved learning more about the powers and how they are harnessed - honestly I love a good lore drop and when the world is built so well that the history flows together and creates such a vivid picture. Sometimes it feels hard to find a good romantasy that you can actually get invested in and actually want to read in one sitting - but this one hundred percent hits the mark, I already want to read it again and am soooo incredibly desperate for the third book!!!
