Reviews: Dune (34)
“Amazing Book!”
(Paperback)
Dune is an excellent book! The plot is very well expanded on and there are many interesting details to take note of as you read. I can easily say this book is one of my all time favourites!
“Great book”
(Hardback)
(Waterstones Exclusive Edition, Hardback)
Dune is one of my favourite books (and series!) with a proper plot to keep you interested.
This is where to start if you want to get into the Dune universe or want to do prep for the 2 recent films (which stick to the book pretty closely).
This edition looks absolutely stunning with the etched paper edges.
I have seen the non-exclusive edition (same cover and format, without the etched paper edges) and this looks great too.
Definitely worth the money for anyone into Science Fiction and/or want a good looking book for the shelf.
“A beautiful edition”
(Hardback)
I loved reading this edition of Dune. It was so beautiful. I highly recommended this edition if you are able to find it!
“The Mothership of Science Fiction”
(Paperback)
A fantastic beginning to my favourite book series, yet can absolutely be read as a standalone. It's clear that Frank Herbert drew a lot of inspiration from the power dynamics of the middle-east when setting the stage for this story. The world built up in this book is so imaginative and detailed, yet so unlike anything else I've seen or read in the science fiction genre, that it's only made all the more compelling because of it.
Dune mainly follows themes of fate, differing cultures, and power. The classic coming of age story that occurs is the cherry on top. There are parts to Dune (such as the littany against fear) that will stick with and influence many readers long after they've read it.
“Phenomenal”
(Paperback)
I was always put off reading during school ,having to overanalyse a novel, and once I left I thought I’d never read a book again but I picked this up at a book store after seeing the film in cinemas and it changed my life. I devoured every aspect of it and all its sequels there is something soo fascinating and fulfilling about the story and the characters that I always just want more. I thoroughly recommend this book to everyone in the hopes it connects with them the way it’s connected with me.
